Wood industry

In the wood-processing industry, belts are used for a wide range of tasks. Work involving high energy input, such as sawing, peeling and chipping logs, requires powerful drive belts that guarantee consistent processing quality even under unsteady loads. The production of composite materials such as fiberboard, veneer panels and laminate flooring requires belts that reliably convey the material through the different work stations, despite the influence of high temperatures, humidity, adhesives, release agents and other chemicals.

Belts by Alphabelt meet such technical requirements without any problems. High-performance timing belts, V- or poly-V belts, combined with different coatings and surface structures, result in tailor-made solutions for the tasks of the wood industry. Our belts are often truly unique - developed in cooperation with our customers and optimally matched to their application!

Examples of Alphabelt products in the wood industry

V-belts with vulcanized rubber coating

Belts with rubber coating are particularly suitable for conveying goods with sensitive surfaces. During manufacture, the rubber coating is vulcanized onto the base material without joints. Three different versions of the coating are available: with a smooth surface, with grooves transverse to the running direction and with a waffle-like structure. V-belts with rubber coatings withstand high compressive loads that occur when transporting wood or fiberboard.

Anti-slip coatings with longitudinal grooves

When transporting parts with wet or slippery surfaces, anti-slip coatings ensure a reliable positioning. Longitudinal grooves in the coating prevent the formation of a moist film between the belt and the goods being handled, which ensures slip-free transport. The layer of PU or APLN can be welded directly to the timing belt.

Optimized surface structures for the wood industry

Not only the material of the coating, but also the structure of the surface is decisive for the static friction and thus for the transport quality. Timing belts, V-belts and poly-V belts by Alphabelt can be equipped with various surfaces especially developed for the wood industry. These include, for example, longish knobs arranged lengthwise to the running direction, herringbone patterns or square cavities.

Temperature-resistant coatings

In the production of laminate, some of the work steps are carried out at elevated temperatures. For example, the curing of melamine adhesives is supported by hot pressing. Conveyor belts used in these areas must therefore be provided with a temperature-resistant coating. Suitable are coatings made of silicone, Viton and EPDM, among others. Depending on the degree of hardness and the material, these are available either with joints, without joints or with vulcanized joints.

Good release properties

If moist wood chips are to be transported, timing belts with good release properties are required to prevent undesired adhesion of the wood particles. This can also be done with belts coated with silicone.
