Belts with cleats
Belts with cleats enable form-fit transport of piece goods and small parts. This is why the geometry of the driving cleats is precisely adapted to the respective shape and size of the goods to be transported. Most commonly, timing belts are used as carriers for the cleats. However, any type of base belt can be equipped with cleats, including poly-V or conveyor belts.
Manufacturing of the cleats
Cleats are usually made of PU by injection molding. For our broad assortment of cleats, we currently have several thousand different molds available, with additional variants being added continuously. Of course, we produce customized cleats according to your specifications upon request. We are also glad to produce individual small batches. If necessary, we resort to manufacturing by hand or 3D printing.Welding the cleats onto the belt back
For a permanent fastening, the cleats are welded directly onto the back of the conveyor belt. The spacings between the cleats can be chosen freely. If required, they can be tooth-synchronized, but this is not mandatory.Interchangeable cleats
Besides permanently welded cleats, several systems for interchangeable cleats are optionally available. These are used when a fast and flexible adaptation of the cleats to different transport goods is required. Thus, different parts can be transported with only one belt. Even while the belt is still installed, interchangeable cleats can be replaced speedily and easily. In addition, an exchangeable cleat system allows the use of cleats made of materials that cannot be welded to the belt material, such as metal. Several options are available for fastening. What they all have in common is flexible positioning of the cleats on the carrier belt, but this is always linked to the tooth pitch. The following types are available:Bolted cleats with feather keys
This bolted cleat system, also called "Type - N", is based on feather keys which are embedded in the teeth of the timing belt. Depending on the width of the feather keys, these are provided with a certain number of screw-in threads to which the interchangeable cleat is bolted. ATN system belts, which we also supply on request, are designed with a similar functionality.Bolted cleats with inlay bars
Bolted cleats for inlay bars or bolted cleats "Type - M" are fastened to bars, each replacing an entire tooth. During manufacture, the teeth are removed at the positions where cleats are to be fastened and replaced by inlay bars made of brass, plastic or, in special cases, stainless steel. The inlay bars include several screw-in threads which serve as the base for the interchangeable cleats.Interchangeable cleats with magnetic system
A relatively new method is the attachment of the cleats by means of a magnet system. Neodymium magnets are applied here, which offer an extreme adhesive force while requiring very little space. The magnets are embedded directly into the timing belt body. The cleats, which are likewise magnetic, can now be simply attached and removed. Compared to other replacement systems, this method enables the fastest and easiest replacement of the cleats.Special types of cleats
Fan cleats
Fan cams are oblong, very flat cams made of glass-fiber-reinforced PU that are attached to the base belt at close spacings. They are applied for the transport of flat, light products such as envelopes, baby diapers or sanitary napkins.Spring cleats
Spring cams are used for the transport of products that are very sensitive or have variation in their thickness. Examples of this are cookie packages or tea bags. Spring cams are adapted to specific products and are available in various degrees of hardness from 60 to 90 Shore.Cleats with bristles
For the gentle handling of particularly sensitive goods such as textile fabrics, cams with bristles are recommended. The height of the bristles, their material and the distance between the cams can be chosen as required.Cams with Teflon coating
For applications where a particularly low friction, an anti-adhesive surface or an increased resistance to chemicals is desired, we have cams with integrated Teflon coating in stock.
