Packaging industry
There is hardly any other sector in which so many different goods are handled as in the packaging industry. This is because here, not only the products to be packaged themselves, but also various kinds of packages have to be prepared and transported to the place where the packaging process takes place. The most common packaging materials here include paper and cardboard, plastics and metals (also as films and cans), as well as composites and glass.
In order to realize safe transport on feed and conveyor belts, special coatings are required for the belts in use, which are selected, for example, according to their hardness, coefficient of friction, resistance to chemical or abrasive substances, or other desirable properties. Form-fit conveying elements such as driving dogs and cams can also be applied to the timing belts. And finally, the belt itself must be able to withstand the high loads that occur in the packaging industry, including those caused by clocked stop-and-go processes.

Timing belt with spring cams
For goods with large deviations in thickness, such as cookies or tea bags, timing belts with welded-on spring cams are used. These are available in various versions with hardnesses of between 60 and 90° Shore A.Belts for blister filling
If small parts such as tablets have to be separated and packed in blisters, special blister belts are used. The contours can be individually designed according to the shape and size of the small parts.Timing belt for coffee pads
These perforated timing belts were developed exclusively for production and transport of round coffee pads. On the transport side, they are provided with an 85° Shore A hard PU layer. On the tooth side, if necessary, teeth can be milled off in the center to create a vacuum channel. This improves adhesion at higher speeds.Anti-adhesive coatings
Timing belts with anti-adhesive coatings are used in labeling machines and for conveying sticky products. These can be made of silicone or PTFE and applied to the belt material without joints. In addition to their non-stick and dirt-repellent properties, they are also heat-resistant up to approx. 200 °C.Haul-off belts for bag forming, filling and sealing machines
Timing belts with milled pocket patterns on their backs ensure reliable feeding of the packaging films on form, fill and seal machines. At moderate speeds, belts without vacuum support can be used, but at higher haul-off speeds, vacuum belts are recommended. The haul-off belts are either available in PU or rubber and can be provided with a wide variety of coatings and pocket geometries, to match the respective packaging material and machine.
