Certifications for the food sector

Every material used for the manufacture of FoodGuard belts meets both European and American requirements for the food industry. Our belts are either made entirely of certified materials or, where this might not be possible due to the design, at least the area of the belt that comes into contact with food. Of course, certifications according to the regulations EC 1935 / 2004, EU 10 / 2011, EU 174 / 2015 and according to FDA as well as the corresponding declarations of conformity are available.

Fabrication from any type of basic belt possible

FoodGuard belts can be manufactured from any type of base belt, whether timing belts, poly-V belts or belts. In the conventional production of belts for the handling of foodstuffs, suitable coatings are welded or glued onto a base belt. Appropriate coating materials include rubber, PU or silicone with a wide variety of surface profiles. Relatively new on the market are FoodGuardPLUS belts, in which the tooth and back sides are manufactured in one piece throughout.

No susceptibility to dirt and corrosion

All conveyor belts that come into contact with food must be easy to clean thoroughly. Closed side edges and the omission of winding noses prevent the accumulation of soiling in corners that are difficult to access. For the same reason, coatings are preferably applied continuously, i.e. without seams or joints. High priority is also given to the protection against corrosion of belts for the food industry. Since they are often exposed to moisture, acids or cleaning agents, the most suitable designs are those whose tension cords are completely enclosed by the belt body and which are made of special polyurethanes with increased resistance to moisture, oils and cleaning agents.

FoodGuardPLUS Belts – Teeth and back in one piece

A new development, which is precisely tailored in material and consistency to the needs of the food industry, is the so-called FoodGuardPLUS belt. FoodGuardPLUS belts are distinguished above all by their unique manufacturing process, in which the entire belt with both the tooth profile as well as the desired back profile is produced in one piece directly by extrusion. This homogeneous structure makes further operations such as welding or gluing unnecessary. The side edges are closed, and there are no seams or splices. FoodGuardPLUS belts are available up to a width of 300 mm.

As base material we use PU in the hardnesses 60, 84 and 92 Shore A, which provides high resistance to water, oil and certain chemicals. FoodGuardPLUS belts can be used permanently at temperatures from -10 to 40 °C, and temporarily even up to 50 °C. If tension cords are required, we use Aramid for this purpose. Belts without tension cords or with zones free of tension cords are also available on request.

Applications for FoodGuardPLUS belts

FoodGuardPLUS belts are perfectly suited for a wide range of transport tasks in the food industry. Equipped with spikes, they are used, among other things, in sausage and cheese slicers, and with lamella or sawtooth profiles they are preferred for conveying fish. As haul-off belts they are used in the production of sausages. But they are also ideal for transporting baked goods, meat products, cold cuts or containers.

Wide range of back and tooth profiles available

To suit their versatile transport tasks, FoodGuardPLUS belts are available with numerous different back profiles, such as nubs, spikes, lengthwise grooves, fabric structures, sawtooth, frustum or triangle profiles. On request, customer-specific surfaces can also be applied directly during extrusion. On the running side, FoodGuardPLUS belts are available with T5, T10, ST5 or Poly-V tooth profiles. To improve its abrasion resistance, it is also possible to coat the tooth side with FDA-grade polyamide.
