Stone, ceramics, glass


The demands of the ceramics, stone and glass industries on automation technology are considered particularly high. Timing belts, V-belts and poly-V belts are used here in operations such as grinding, cutting, polishing, tempering, edge processing and transport. Materials are required that are, for example, water-resistant, withstand high temperatures, guarantee maximum precision and feature low abrasion. At the same time, sensitive components must be handled as gently as possible.


It is precisely such ambitious individual solutions that are Alphabelt's specialty. We do not supply belts "off the shelf", but rather perfectly tailored items developed together with our customers for every task, no matter how complicated it might be.

Application examples of Alphabelt products in the glass, ceramics and stone industries:

V-belts or Poly-V belts with vulcanized rubber coating

For heavy items with sensitive surfaces, such as ceramics, a rubber coating is used. Depending on the application, this is available in three different versions: with a smooth surface, provided with transverse grooves or with a diamond-shaped structure. The rubber coating, which is vulcanized directly onto the V-belt, ensures precise transport even under high pressure loads..

 

Temperature-resistant felt coating

Where hot goods have to be transported, for example in the manufacture of ceramic or glass products, a temperature-resistant coating of high-strength felt is applied to the V-belt. Aramid felt is suitable for temperature ranges up to 250 °C. In addition, coatings of paraaramid felt can be used up to 300 °C, and even up to 550 °C for short periods. If high belt flexibility is required, the felt is also available in a grooved version.

 

PU coating with longitudinal grooves

Likewise convenient for the transport of stone and glass plates is a layer of PU, which is provided with longitudinal grooves. This solution combines good entrainment properties, high abrasion resistance, stability against chemicals and solvents, and very good resistance to oils and greases.

 

Welded-on anti-slip coating

An anti-slip coating made of PU or APLN is particularly expedient for transporting wet parts, for example during polishing and edge processing of glass. This coating can usually be welded directly onto the timing belt.

 

Combined layers of sylomer and silicone

To ensure full-surface load transmission, a planar layer of Sylomer, a special PUR elastomer of high pressure load capacity, is applied to the timing belt, V-belt or Poly-V belt. An overlying silicone layer with a high coefficient of friction and dehesive, which means adhesive and dirt-repellent properties, guarantees precise entrainment.

 

Suction cups for transportation of plates

To transport flat components such as tiles, suction cups are used which are designed according to the customer's requirements.The pitch can be freely chosen. Two-level suction cups are also available.
