Material handling

Alphabelt is a specialist for customized solutions in material handling. Many years of experience and a wide assortment of possible materials and manufacturing processes contribute directly to your project. We see problems as challenges that need to be solved quickly and efficiently. Special solutions are our standard. We develop and manufacture each belt according to your specifications so as to create a product that is perfectly tailored to your application.

Timing belt coatings

As diverse as the goods to be conveyed also is the range of coatings matched to them. PU and rubber coatings are available in various degrees of hardness. PU foams are used for transporting sensitive parts. Anti-slip coatings for wet parts, felt coatings for high temperatures, anti-adhesive special PU coatings for labeling units or silicone coatings are just a few examples of the possibilities offered by Alphabelt's wide product range.

Timing belt with cleats

For the transportation of bulk material, small parts or piece goods of various shapes, carrier cleats are used, which in most cases are made of PU and welded directly onto the back of the timing belt. The shape of these cleats is specially adapted to the material being transported. The distance from cam to cleats is quite freely definable and not necessarily dependent on the tooth pitch. The Alphabelt range includes more than 500 different cams. If there should not be a suitable shape for your application, a customer-specific cleats will be manufactured according to your specifications.

Interchangeable cleats

In some cases, the drive cams need to be replaced, when necessary, for example when different parts are to be transported on the same line and the timing belt itself is difficult to remove from the machine. For this purpose, Alphabelt uses screwed cams: These are either attached to parallel keys with threads that are embedded in the teeth of the timing belt. Or a whole tooth is milled away and replaced by a threaded insert made of brass or stainless steel. With both solutions, the cleats pitches can be flexibly defined, in accordance to the tooth pitch. Furthermore, it is even possible to mount cleats that cannot be welded onto the belt, for example cleats made of metal. On request, we can also supply ATN system belts.

Timing belt with magnets

When handling magnetic materials, you can use timing belts with magnets to hold the parts in place during transport. For this we work with neodymium magnets, which are embedded directly in the PU timing belt and provide an extraordinary holding force while at the same time requiring little space. Other applications include the separation of parts or serve as a quick-change system for magnetic cams.

Joints for subsequent fastening

If a timing belt is not to be closed until it is installed on site, or if a belt must be able to be changed quickly and easily if required, there are connectors available for closing the belt ends afterwards. The simplest and most economical option is to use spiral-shaped plastic connectors at both belt ends, which are held together by a connecting pin. PinJoint or Ero HP connectors are somewhat more complex to manufacture, but also significantly more resilient. In both types, the belt ends are provided with a number of interlocking fingers precisely matched to the belt width, which are then fixed in place by several metal pins inserted transversely through the teeth. The ease of use allows an uncomplicated installation and keeps the costs of assembly and replacement to a minimum.
